OPW-AIO Iron/Sulphur Removal Filter System

OPW-AIO Iron/Sulphur Removal Filter System

General Information Specification Sheet

The OPW-AIO Filter, when properly applied, is an efficient and cost effective system for removal of Iron & Sulphur.

The OPW-AIO unit maintains a compressed “Air Pocket” in the top of the tank while the system is in service. As the water passes through the air pocket, Iron & Sulphur are oxidized. In Addition, dissolved oxygen is also added to the water.

Daily backwashing of the unit will remove accumulated Iron and replenish the filter media bed, as the regeneration process adds fresh air to the tank.

Application Parameters:

Iron Removal – 10 ppm

Sulphur – 4 ppm

pH Range 5.8 – 10.5

Installation:

>> Install the AIO Filter after the supply lines going to the outside faucets (Unless outside faucets need to be clear of Iron).

>> Install the AIO Filter AFTER any Sediment or pH Neutralizing Filters.

>> Install the AIO Filter BEFORE a Softener or any Taste/Odor filters.

>> Insure the inlet Check Valve is connected/installed into the Inlet Side of the Fleck Control Valve.

>> The Drain Line should be installed in accordance with local plumbing codes. (Due to the release of air during a Regeneration Cycle, the drain line MUST be securely fastened at the end and anchored every few feet of the drain line.

>> Insure the Brine Line Check Valve with Screen in installed on the Brine Valve. (This is the point where Air will be Drawn into the Filter Tank.)

System Limitations:

Our AIO filter can be also be used along with light Chlorination.

The OPW-AIO Filter utilizes air, oxidation and filtration to remove Iron & Sulphur from water. This process will leave some air or effervescence in the water.

Effervescence may give the water a “Milky” appearance and is simply excess air in the water. While a certain amount of effervescence will always be present, it may be most noticeable during the first 30 days after the installation of the system.

Regeneration Cycles: (59 minutes)

  • Backwash – 14 minutes: During this cycle, Iron is washed off of the media and carried to the drain. (Untreated water is available during regeneration).
  • Air Recharge – 40 minutes: During this cycle the unit empties water to the drain and is recharged with air, oxidizing the media. The sound of air being recharged will be heard. Air bubbles should be visible going down the drain line before proceeding to the next cycle. (Adjust cycle time if necessary).
  • Rapid Rinse – 1 minute or “Off”: During this cycle water enters the tank, compressing the air into a pocket at the top of the tank.
  • Brine Refill – Off
  • Unit returns to the “Service” position

Note: Due to the Air Pocket in the top of the tank, exceeding 80 psi will adversely impact the performance of this filter…!

The frequency and time of the regeneration can be changed due to the following reasons:

Need for the unit to regenerate at a different time of day. (DO NOT regenerate any other Softener/Filter at the same time as the OPW-AIO, since this will interfere with the AIO regeneration process.

In conditions of high water usage and/or high levels of Iron, the unit may need to regenerate more often than every 3 days. This Filter can be set to regenerate every 1, 2 or 3 days, as the filter media may become fouled with Iron and render the unit to become ineffective.
